I went for 4 nights with my 20-year-old daughter and we absolutely loved every moment!
To be honest, I was slightly apprehensive about going as two women alone — but we didn’t have any issues. We got the usual “Shakira” comments, “Where are you from?” and the classic “You’ve dropped something!” — all harmless.
Where We Stayed
We stayed at Riad Palais Sebban — everything was perfect, and the location was ideal: close enough to everything but just outside the chaos of the Medina!
Money Tips
We took 200dh from the UK just for the airport transfer, which we arranged through the Riad.
We also brought sterling and exchanged it at Hotel Ali (no commission).
When we needed more cash, we used the ATM at Post Maroc (right next door) — no fees!
Highlights of the Trip
Le Jardin Secret
Calm, quiet, and beautiful — with a lovely café. Don’t miss climbing the tower for panoramic views!
Madrassa Ben Youssef
Absolutely stunning architecture — a must-see.
The Souks & Shopping
Of course, we explored the souks, but also visited Ensemble Artisanal, a fixed-price shopping center near the mosque. A great place to start and get an idea of fair prices.
The large leather shop there was amazing — we could have spent a fortune!
Dardar Rooftop & Nobu
Both offered incredible views and unforgettable dining experiences.
Agafay Desert Tour
Highly recommended!
- Visit to an Argan oil cooperative
- Camel ride at sunset (bring a pashmina for head wrapping)
- Dinner and fire show at a desert camp
All for just £62 for both of us — amazing value!
Oasiria Water Park
A fun and relaxing end to our trip.
There’s a free shuttle bus from outside Hotel Islane — check their website for timings.
What We Didn’t Love
The Jemaa el-Fna square wasn’t for us.
Too hectic, with monkeys, snake charmers, and people vying for attention.
We stuck to walking around the edges, avoided eye contact, and walked with purpose.
Navigation Made Easy
Google Maps works perfectly across Marrakech — a total lifesaver in the winding souks!
Tip: put your phone on a strap or lanyard so you can easily use it for directions without worry.
Getting to/from the Airport
The #19 Airport Bus runs from opposite KFC — only 30dh each.
On the way home, we just missed the bus and a taxi driver offered the same price, so we took it.
At the airport on arrival, I noticed there are fixed-price taxis available — a good option if you prefer to avoid negotiation.
Final Thoughts
We truly had an unforgettable time and felt safe the entire trip.
Can’t wait to explore more of Morocco soon! 🇲🇦
